1000 fragments is Ryoji Ikeda's first solo album. As early as 1995 Ikeda started with this influential release his consistent work on digital sound design. 1000 fragments was originally released in february 1995 on Ikeda's own label CCI Recordings. This early review on Ikeda's first release brings it all together: "The works on this disc of japanese computer-manipulated sound composer Ryoji Ikeda all date from early parts of his career, the mid-80s thru the early 90s. But by no means does the early date on this material date the works themselves. The first piece, consisting of several short parts (bursts?), snaps the listener around a jumble of sound fragments from tv, nasa, radio, film, raw electronics and computer-generated tones, and so on. It's rather disorienting stuff... more like something you'd expect out of the Hafler trio, and actually sort of out of character with the rest of the disc. As for the rest of the disc, it's taken up with two long works, which I assume involve computer-generated sound but which have the lushness one more associates with analog electronics. Both are longish ambient works, but instead of featuring static repetitive structures, these 'unfold' in an intriguing manner, like a long, slow drive across a very sparse landscape. As opposed to the initial work here, these are definitely the 'meat' of this disc, and anyone looking for some fine ambient work with perhaps a bit of an edge would do well to check this out."

Ryoji Ikeda's biostates that his work exploits the causality of sound with human perception'. It's a claim that makes sense when experiencing his music (especially in an installation or performance setting, where the bulk of his work has been for the past few years); Ikeda's minimalist, rigorous electronica seriously plays with the listener's head. The first 19 tracksoriginate from tiny flecks of noise, clicks, and pulses of pure sine tones ranging from dogwhistle-high to bowel-shakingly low. They're arranged with surgical precision into short slices of minimalist art-techno; funky in a very cerebral, molecular sort of fashion, they're immersive (and by track 19) almost lush and strangely beautiful. But be warned; a sticker on the sleeve says; "This CD contains specific waveform data that performs a data-read test for optical drives. The last track will cause some CD players to experience playback errors, with no damage to equipment". Approach with caution...

Ash Ra Tempel maestro Mr. Göttsching comes with a live recording from one of his numerous concerts in this Japan where he is treated like a God. He is using new technology but it still has the old psychedelic spirit and it shows that it is possible to age with grandeur in the music business.

Compared to the Koss LP, this is the more piano and Sakamoto orientated album, but also worth an endless listening session at home. Japanese deepness skipping the cliches that ambient music is normally surrounded by.

Our good friend Kuniyuki from Sapporo, the homebase of the legendary club "Precious Hall", works best in this kind of album format. In a nice Brian Eno tradition he incorpates Japanese elements and of course his love for Basic Channel. On heavy rotation at home for some years now.

Now, 2 years later, Âme and Dixon put their remix hands on the original and it's finally ready to lighten up your summer even more. Luckily we got this N.E.R.D. edit from another Bayern Munich follower. Quite a few dancefloor friendly versions of Pharell's original are floating around right now. But this is simply THE best. When he passed this on to us, our colleague knew we would handle it with care and do a dope artwork for it. On the flipside we put Âme's remix of the Gotan Project song "De Hombre a Hombre", which was previously released on XL recordings, though only as a download. Since their spellbinding debut on Sonar Kollektiv some eight years ago, Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann have become an indispensable part of electronic music. The pair embody more than just the memorable tracks that stay with you after a night out; their music is the result of artistic divination, of applying ideas and themes through everything they do, of using their chosen media to explore the realms of the artist. So you know that whether you have a new twelve inch from the pair in your hand or their latest DJ mix, there is going to be something deeper behind it than the elementary tropes that proliferate the majority of electronic music. Primary Structures is their latest artistic endeavour, a mix that goes beyond the overly familiar, bored to death slapdashery that saturates the market. As the name suggests they have chosen to take things back to beginning, back to a time before technology made mixes too easy. DJ's used to have to work to make a mix; when they DJ'ed it was from reel to reel tapes, they would chop and splice tracks to create new edits and versions of the originals. Paving the way forward sometimes means looking into the past, focussing on the Primary Structures that helped to build the very foundations of the art. This is what Âme have done, tearing apart the fabric of the songs that make up the track list, respectfully reassembling, rearranging and re-editing to create a cohesive, seamless flow of music that emerges not just as a simple collection of tracks mixed together, but as a singular piece of work. Primary Structures drips with the avant-garde psychedelia of krautrock, yet this is no blast from the past or hiding in the shadows of ghosts. Âme forge their way ever forward, tying together an aesthetic of parallel worlds; a timeless mix of music blended with the technology of today and infused with the techniques laid down by their predecessors Working to dispel the lines between the DJ and the producer, the mix and the listener, the art and the music, Âme take us beyond the building blocks in to a space inhabited by inspiration.

We are very happy to present these two gems from the incredible extensive Power Music catalog. In the nineties DJ Duke worked like an one man factory and these two cuts still belong to our favorites today. They also give a hint on the variety of his music, but in the Sex Mania world the step from the Junior Vasquez tribute track "The Factory" to the Wild Pitch monument of DJ Pierre's take on "Throw Ya Hands" was and still is pretty small. There has been a little Duke revival recently and we hope we can extend it with this second release on our new offshoot, MTN. Webshop exclusive.

Last summer a very special event took place at our office. Or actually not at our office, but someone from our office got married. To celebrate that fact, Henrik Schwarz and Âme spend some time together in the studio and came out with their version of “Cheri Cheri Lady”, the ultimate guilty pleasure song by German cult band Modern Talking. Besides performing the song on the wedding they also decided to press it on a super limited picture disc that shows the happy couple in their younger days, and that picture disc is now exclusively available in our webshop!. All the proceeds from this record will be donated for a good cause.
