Muting The Noise

With this record Innervisions brings you 2 remixes from the award winning Sudanese musician Emmanuel Jal. The remixes were done by Henrik Schwarz and Olof Dreijer (The Knife). They were originally compiled for the Sudan Votes Music Hopes campaign by MICT. With the campaign, several organizations across the globe came together to promote international awareness for the referendum in January 2011. The people of South Sudan will vote to decide whether they wish to remain part of a united Sudan or wheter they want to become an independent country.

Philomena is back! To our suprise, it features Henrik Schwarz's remix of Amadou & Mariam's "Je Pense A Toi" and Âme's remix of Mike Oldfield's classic "Tubular Bells". Unlike other bootlegs featuring Henrik Schwarz edits, we were quite astonished about the high quality sound and the great artwork, which is the reason we want to bring Philomena 02 in our shop again.

Finally! Henrik's original remix version comes out on Peppermint Jam and the question is: How did Stevie Wonder made it into this? Due to modern communication systems this is already a classic without even been released.

As a result of the "A Critical Mass" tour in 2009 we are now releasing two new tracks recreated out of the recorded livematerial. The A-side is based on the former Henrik Schwarz hit "Chicago" in an eerie bleepy techno style with a touch of an early M-Plant production. The released version was recorded during the Flow Festival in Helsinki in August 2009. The B-Side is called "Berlin-Karlsruhe Express" and was always a highlight in every liveshow. An aquatic drexciyan house inferno by Henrik Schwarz/Âme/Dixon which rounds up the "Critical Mass EP" perfectly.

Due to public demand we offer three nice edits of our own DJ Dixon taken from his "Temporary Secretary" Mix. He was lucky to get all single parts from the original tracks and with his scientific approach he recreated each track completely in a different way. So what is an edit and what is a remix? To get an own opinion about that you better check this record out!

Sand to the beach. That could be a succinct statement about the sense of a mix CD today. DJ Dixon’s “Temporary Secretary” is the report of an answer. Dixon slices and cuts the elements and fragments of the songs and tracks, pasting them together somewhere else and in a way that would not be possible in a club with turntables or CDJs alone and certainly not on the fly. He distills the essence of the very nature of what a DJ argues to do with music: to leave a distinct mark on it. If you know the tunes, new perspectives will amaze you and if you don’t, you will have a hard time picture any other versions.
